가끔 별생각 없이 읽은 문장이 오래 남을 때가 있다. 최근에 어니스트 헤밍웨이의 글쓰기와 관련된 문장을 읽었는데, 처음에는 그냥 소설가의 작법에 관한 말이라고 생각했다. 그런데 곱씹어볼수록 이 말이 논문을 쓰는 일에도 꽤 잘 맞는다는 생각이 들었다. 헤밍웨이는 『Death in the Afternoon』에서 이렇게 썼다.If a writer of prose knows enough of what he is writing about he may omit things that he knows and the reader, if the writer is writing truly enough, will have a feeling of those things as strongly as though the writer..
